Welcome to my site!
From November 29-December 7, 2010, I will be participating in a trip with an organization called "Project Z" to help build a K-12 school in the impoverished community of Zurzular. The children in this village do not have access to education beyond 6th grade due to unavailable modes of transportation to bring the to the high school miles away. Together, myself and other DePaul School of Education Graduate Students will help to build a school for these children and give them all an opportunity at learning past the 6th grade level.
For the past year, I have been working on my M.A. in Elementary and Special Education and will complete my program in June, 2011. I believe this experience will not only contribute to my learning to be a better educator, but also further inspire me to continue supporting students and children from low economic backgrounds.
In order to participate in this fantastic opportunity, I am asking for financial support from friends and family. My trip expenses include airfare, safe lodging and meals. Please consider donating to support my trip to Honduras. Without the support from family and friends, this trip would not be possible for me. To donate, please click the "Donate" button on the sidebar, which will bring you to my secure PayPal site. If you would like to donate through cash or check, please contact me at emh225@gmail.com and I can give you my local information.
Throughout my planning and experiences, I will be updating this site with pictures and thoughts so that you all can follow along. I am looking very forward to this experience and appreciate any contribution that you can make!
Thank you for your support,
Elizabeth Hickey
